ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hullo there! I’m Jade, a Lincoln based illustrator and comic artist. I really like tea, dogs and old books.
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2011 with a first class honours degree in Illustration, and I started self-publishing my teastained comic series Cafe Suada shortly after that. My style is a fusion of British roots with Japanese influences, and combines digital and traditional techniques. In 2013 I was nominated for Best Emerging Talent in the British Comic Awards, and in 2014 I won the Myriad Editions First Graphic Novel competition with an extract from my graphic novel For the Love of God, Marie!, published July 2016.
I’m also a keen exhibitor, workshop leader and charicaturist and I can often be found at comic events such as Comic Con, Thoughtbubble, Comiket and others.
I finished a bunch of competition illustrations off at the weekend, and handed in my dissertation today AT LAST. Some people went straight out for drinks to celebrate, but what did I do?
I WENT HOME AND DREW COMICS. 'CAUSE I'M A BADASS (translation: loserrrrr.)
Anyway, enjoy todays update! And thanks for reading as always. I should hopefully have more time for CS now that I only have a couple of major things to focus on as opposed to a fuckload of smaller irritating diversions XD
Cheers! And oh geez I know we had to start all our research early too haha. I ended up spending most of the summer doing research and then term was purely spent writing the damn thing XO If you ever need any advice I'll be happy to help now that mine's all over and done with heh.
congrats on getting your dissertation finished! No more worrying now, eh? Its all over until you get results!! :D
lol TBH I was the same when we left Uni last year, although of course I celebrated with our classmates over a drink, I was more excited then anything about being able to have time to draw my own personal projects again XD
And no, it's not over yet, I still have a major battle to fight with the tutors *epic FIGHTO pose* before this is over - only then will I have a true celebratory drink (All the one's in between don't count.)
